The office of the fire marshal is established. The marshal shall have full authority to inspect all premises to discover fire hazards and to cause their removal, and to enforce all legal fire prevention measures. He shall be appointed by the council during good behavior and may be removed only for cause and after a public hearing. This office may be held by the chief on resolution of the city council. (Ord. 1334, §3, 1980).
