Kettle Falls currently has no separate bikeways along its streets, including the state and federal highways. Bicyclists on the shoulder of the roadways have been relatively safe because of the moderate traffic volumes, wide shoulders, and luck. As a rule, roadways with traffic volumes of less than 3,000 vehicles per day do not need separated bike facilities. SR395 in downtown Kettle Falls, however, had 2002 traffic volumes of 8,000 vehicles per day.

In 2003, the City began a bicycle trail planning effort with funding from Tri-County Economic Development District. The initial plan, created by Heritage Design of Colville, focused on possible locations for trails, funding options, and community involvement.
