Kettle Falls currently has walkways along some streets, but most of the street system does not have any pedestrian facilities. Because of the low traffic volumes, pedestrians on the shoulders of the roadways have been relatively safe. However, Kettle Falls is predicted to grow more than 13 percent over the next 25 years (low growth projection, Comprehensive Growth Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the City of Kettle Falls, October 1997). Traffic volumes will be higher everywhere, and conflicts between pedestrians and motorized vehicles will increase.
