The purpose and intent of the Single Family Residential District is to provide a quiet, low-density, single family residential area which promotes and encourages a suitable environment for family life where children are members of most families. Further, the purpose is to create a balanced neighborhood by allowing uses that serve the residents of the district but discouraging uses that would substantially interfere with development of single-family dwellings or would result in increased traffic on minor streets or create excessive demands and costs for public services. The district is characterized by owner occupancy, generous lot size, quiet atmosphere, and an average density of five dwellings per net acre.
